Former Gordon Highlander Aaron Mizell homered twice and drove in five runs as the Georgia Southern Eagles took the deciding Game Three 18 - 4 over the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens on Sunday. During the series, Mizell was 6 - 13 from the plate and finished the final game a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He also had an opportunity to display his talents in Wednesday's game against Georgia Tech in Statesboro.
Once again, the Gordon State product came through for the Eagles (3 - 1) with three hits in the contest. Mizell drove in a run in the third inning with a single to right field to help Georgia Southern University secure a 4 - 3 victory over the Yellow Jackets. To date, the GSC transfer is nine for 17 with two doubles, two home runs, and six RBI's in his first four games as an Eagle.
As most Gordon State College fans recall, he was a two-year standout and Academic All-American for Head Coach Travis McClanahan. In addition, Mizell was an All-Conference selection twice and was named to the JUCO World Series All-Tournament team as a freshman.
