A walk-off single from Colton Thomas brought home Tavin Thompson for the winning run to give the Darton State College Cavaliers a 9-8 victory over East Georgia, today.
After three scoreless innings, East Georgia scored five runs in the 4th to finish the inning ahead of the Cavaliers 5-2. Darton picked up a run in the sixth inning before scoring five more in the 8th. However East Georgia scored three more in the ninth inning to tie the game 8-8.
In the bottom of the 9th inning, Thompson answered with a double, and was moved to 3rd on a bunt by William Golden. With two outs, Thomas cracked a single and scored Thompson, leaving Darton with a 2-1 result following the program's series with East Georgia.
Kyle Hansen got the win for Cavaliers. He allowed two runs over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.
Roye took the loss for East Georgia. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
Darton improved to 19-9 overall and 6-2 in GCAA play. They'll host South Georgia College, Tuesday, at 6 p.m.
