CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Dr. Linda R. Buchanan, president of Andrew College, announced on Tuesday that she was lifting the interim tag, and named Head Baseball Coach Blake Williams, as the new Athletic Director. Williams had been the Interim Athletic Director since January 1, when Dr. Edith Smith retired. He will remain the Head Baseball Coach, also.
Williams has been at Andrew for the past seven years, first as the Assistant Baseball Coach, then as Head Coach for the past five seasons. A total of 50 players have signed scholarships with four-year institutions during his tenure, including a record haul of 13 signees from this season's team. The Tigers placed Mike Warren on this season's GCAA First-Team All-Region 17 team, and Anthony Young on the GCAA Second-Team, and both players were named Gold Glove winners for the defensive prowess. Two Tigers have been named NJCAA Div. I Pitchers of the Week in the past two seasons, Jesse King winning in Week 3 in 2015, and Dalton Kuhn winning in Week 14 this past season.
Williams is a graduate of Emmanuel College, where he was a four-year starter, primarily as an infielder.
