CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Chris Schwarzer led off the bottom of the 7th inning, in a 7-7 game, with a homerun to left field for the walk-off win in game one, then the Tigers erupted for 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning in game two, and the umpires called the game due to darkness, as the Tigers opened the season with a sweep of the Brewton Parker JV on Saturday at the Hord Athletic Complex.
Schwarzer game-winner was his second homerun of the game, as he went 3 for 4 and drove in 4 runs to pace the Tigers in game one. Andrew Wingate picked up his 1st collegiate win in relief. Roman Oliu pitched 4 innings in his 1st start of season, striking out 4, and allowing only 1 hit.
Mike Branche went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2-RBI, Josh Peters had 2 hits and 3-RBI, Connor Nalley had 2 hits and 2-RBI, and Dahlton Cash went 1 for 2 with 3-RBI, as the Tigers banged out 12 hits as a team, and drew 9 walks. Jordan Thomas also picked up his 1st collegiate win in relief, pitching 2.2 innings and striking out 4.
The Tigers are back at Hord on Wednesday with a single game against Southern Union State College at 1:30 pm.
