GMC wins season opener

GMC opened the 2012 season by defeating Chattahoochee Tech 48-12 at Davenport Field. The Bulldogs were led by freshman quarterback Clay Chastain's debut performance. Chastain was 11 of 18 for 194 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Chastain let everyone get in on the scoring action as his TD passes were distributed to four different receivers. Kevin Gary, Terome Grant, Montez McGuire and Drez Warthen were all on the receiving end of a Chastain touchdown pass. Backup QB Ky Tyler had an good night as well completing 5 of 6 passes and rushing for a touchdown

 

The Bulldogs created 5 turnovers against the Golden Eagles. The defense was led by Tiquention Colmen as he had 3 interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Coleman also had several tackles and the breakup of two passes. Davonte Lambert, Octavious Brown and Dre Finely each had big nights defensively. Freshman kicker Chris Bell had 2 field goals and was 6 for 6 on extra points. 

GMC will return to action September 8 on Davenport Field in Milledgeville against visiting Snow College of Utah.
