Georgia Highlands wins second consecutive region contest

The Chargers of Georgia Highlands College fought back from a 17-point deficit to defeat the Highlanders of Gordon State College 87-84 for the first home win in school history. The run was led by a huge defensive effort by the Chargers to start the second half. The Chargers were led by the hot hand of former Armuchee High School Indian Matt Catanzano, who ended the night with 7  three-pointers , 5 in the second half, for 24 points.  Montrel Goldston scored 14 points, Donovan Harris 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Jamison Jeffers was a perfect 4-4 from the field with 9 points.

The Chargers shot 57 percent from the 2-point range, 47 percent from point range and 68 percent from the free-throw line.

The Chargers are now 2 – 2 on the season and are 2 -0 and lead the GCAA conference. The Chargers are on the road Sunday to take on Chattahoochee Tech.
