The Georgia Highlands College Chargers overcame a tough first half to pull away in the second half to secure their 20th straight victory 85-66 over Atlanta Metro College.
The Chargers trailed the Trailblazers 36-34 at the half. The Trailblazers led by as many as 4 points mid-way through the second half but the depth of the Chargers bench was the difference scoring 51 of their 85 points in the second half.
The Chargers had 4 players in double figures, led by freshman Keymont Jenkins with 19 points. "We didn't have our A game tonight in the first half, but we toughed it out in the second half and Keymont Jenkins was our go to guytonight", said Charger head coach Phil Gaffney. Other Chargers in double digits was Tylik Evans with 18 points and 6 assist, Doniel Dean with 16 points , 6 assist, and 8 rebounds, and Paris Ballinger with 11 points, hitting 3/4 three point line. Kyon Davenport also had 9 points and 11 rebounds.
The Chargers go to 20-1 on the season and 8-0 in GCAA conference play. Up next for the Chargers is South Georgia Tech at the Corral Saturday Jan. 30th . Tip Off 4:00pm.
