Sexton, Lady Cavs shut out Andrew in double header

ALBANY- Darton State College shutout Andrew College 10-0 and 19-0 in double-header softball action, Wednesday.

Darton outfielder Chelsea Showers was ruthless in game one. Batting 3-for-3, she belted two homeruns and a double to tally 7 RBI. Teammates Kelsea Ogletree, Melissa Dearth and Heather Sexton joined the slugfest and homered as well.

Darton's Savanah Carlisle struck out 7 batters and allowed only two hits the 5-inning win.

The Lady Cavaliers jumped ahead 11-0 in the first inning of game two. Bree Wells, Ogletree and Dearth all batted home runs. Wells and Ogletree also had 4 RBI; Dearth had 3 RBI and Brooke Tomlin had 2.

Heather Sexton got the win in 5 innings, striking out one batter and allowing six hits.

Darton will play next in a tournament hosted by Chipola in Marianna, Fla., Saturday and Sunday
