Lady Tigers honored for academic achievements

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- On April 7, the Andrew College community gathered to recognize the achievements of students, faculty, and staff for the 2015-16 year. The softball team was well represented.

In the photo, left to right, is Abigail Fuller (Abbeville, Ga.), Brittany Ostrander (Peachtree City, Ga.), Ashton Howell (Ellaville, Ga.), andSamantha Gidney (Perry, Ga.).

Among the awards given, were the Andrew College Andy Awards, which is the highest award given to an Andrew College student.

The Andrew College Andy Awards have been presented to students since 1969. The four categories for the awards are Leadership, Service, Achievement, and Scholarship. The Andy Award for Leadership is presented to the student who has shown leadership qualities both within an organization and within the college community. The Andy Award for Service is presented to the student who has demonstrated the qualities of service and citizenship throughout the college and the community. The Andy Award for Achievement is presented to a student who has achieved scholarly recognition on a state, national or international level.

Abigail Fuller was the recipient of the Andy Leadership Award, and Samantha Gidney, the Andy Service Award.

The Pilot Club Friendship Award is given to a student who demonstrates qualities of kindness, loyalty, compassion, concern, regard for the feelings of others, friendship, valued by their peers, and promotes goodwill.

Brittany Ostrander won the Pilot Club Friendship Award.

Each area of study presented an award for excellence in their particular field of study. 

Ashton Howell won the award for Political Science, Gidney the award for Business, and Ostrander the award for English.

Gidney was named an Academic All-American by the PTK Chapter of Andrew College.
