Armbrister and Lady Cavs strongarm Southern Crescent Tech

ALBANY –  A mere four seconds was all it took for Darton State sophomore Iesha Bonner to win the tip-off, sprint ahead and score as the Lady Cavs began what became a severely lop-sided win over Southern Crescent Tech, Friday, in the Cavalier Arena in Albany.

Darton handed Southern Crescent a 120-24 whipping, and the Lady Cavs continued to look as though someone breathed new life into the program.

That someone could be Jasmine Wilson, who had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists tonight. Wilson returned to the Lady Cavs this week as an eligible student-athlete, and it’s obvious the entire team is playing better ball.

Guard Shanae Armbrister was no exception, scoring 28 points and nabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore Kadaysha Jones scored 18 points and charged a defensive effort that allowed only six points in the first half.

Darton’s depth showed today as well. B’Kyia Webb came off the bench to score 10 points and grab 10 rebounds, and sophomore Brooke Davidson sunk 3-for-5 3-pointers.

“I’m proud of where we are as a team,” Darton State College head women’s basketball coach Lea Henry said. “We showed great defensive intensity and effort, and our tempo has improved. It’s nice to see everybody playing so hard.”

Darton is now 12-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

The Lady Cavs will return to the Cavalier Arena to host Alabama Southern on Jan. 3, at 6 p.m.
