Gordon State drops West Georgia Tech
GORDON DROPS WEST GEORGIA TECH 4-2 TO EVEN SERIES AT 1-1
BARNESVILLE, Georgia – Gordon State dropped West Georgia Tech 4-2 Friday evening in Barnesville to even the series at 1-1.
The Golden Knights fell to 19-27 overall and 8-18 in the conference while Gordon improved to 23-22 and 15-10.
West Georgia Tech won the series opener in Douglasville on Tuesday, 5-3.
West Georgia Tech is in a four-way battle for the final two spots in the Region 17 postseason tournament as it enters the stretch run.
WGTC lost the game despite out-hitting Gordon 13-5.
Rus Morman, Nic Vinson, Jamie McKnight, Justin Batcher and Hudson Power all collected multiple hits for the Golden Knights.
Brad Bartlett went the distance for West Georgia Tech and allowed just two earned runs (4 total) on five hits through eight innings.
West Georgia Tech held a 1-0 lead going in to the bottom of the third, when Gordon scored two runs to take the lead.
Gordon added a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 3-1. West Georgia Tech answered with a run in the seventh to get to within one at 3-2. Gordon added an insurance run in the eighth.
The two squads will play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Barnesville.
