Warriors fall in GCAA Semis
The Middle Georgia State College Men’s Basketball team saw their season come to an end on Friday 3/8/13 with a 71-55 loss to East Georgia State in the GCAA tournament Semifinals. The Warriors only trailed by 3 at the half and managed to keep the score close the first ten minutes of the second half, before falling late in the game. Head Coach Scott Moe thought the difference down the stretch was the defensive intensity of the Bobcats. “I thought they wore us down and forced us into some turnovers and missed shots that was the difference in the game.” The Warriors were led in scoring by Roshaun Milline with 14 points, Shane Heyward added 12 points. D’Angelo Johnson led the Warriors with 10 rebounds, and was named to the All-GCAA tournament team.
The Warriors season comes to an end with a 23-8 record. Moe Goes on to say “It was a good season, anytime you break the 20 win mark you can be proud.”
Six Sophomores ended their careers at MGSC with an overall record of 45-16 in two seasons. They are Cortez Riley, D’angelo Johnson, Earl Lawrence, Joey Harris, Quincy Bennett (One Year) and Shane Heyward. Shane was named GCAA All-Region for the second year in a row.
