CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning in game one, the Lady Fighting Tigers rallied behind Taylor Sheffield's 2-RBI double to tie it, then walked off on Madison Beazley's single to left for a 5-4 comeback win, before breaking out the bats in game two, taking a 9-2 lead early, then cruising to a 10-7 victory in game two.
In game one, Maci Townsend led off the 7th inning with a single to left, and Madison Whitehead pinch ran. Kaitlyn Smith then beat out an infield single. Sheffield then pounded a double to deep center, scoring both Whitehead and Smith. Beazley then laced a single to left center for the game winner. Sheffield, Beazley, and Smith all had a pair of hits in the game, with Sheffield's being a double and a triple. Chalie Smith ran her record to 2-0 on the season, allowing 8 hits in 7 innings, striking out 2.
The 4-0 start is the best in Tiger history, since transitioning to fastpitch. Andrew will be in Florida next weekend, traveling to Northwest Florida State for a doubleheader on Thursday, then on to Panama City to play four games in the Gulf Coast Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
