Fain, Mitchell tame GPC Jaguars
ALBANY – Awesome individual performances and excellent team play led to a 68-39 blowout over Georgia Perimeter College in the Cavalier Arena, Saturday.
The Lady Cavaliers, now 23-3 overall and 15-2 in the conference, made quick work of the Jaguars as they forced 14 turnovers and shot 50 percent from the floor to finish the first half 40-23. Head Coach Lea Henry looked to her bench in the second half and showed a Darton squad that has plenty of depth and ability.
The win keeps Darton on top of the GCAA by two games.
Sophomore guard Michelle Mitchell sunk 9 of 14 field goals to score 22 points while horsing five steals and four rebounds for the Lady Cavs. Forward Chanteniece Fann scored 16, and lead a dominant defense that forced 27 GPC turnovers.
Darton looked good all over as they nailed a 46 FG percentage, shot 83 percent from the free throw line and sunk 75 percent of their 3-point attempts.
Undefeated at home, they have 11 straight wins in the Cavalier Arena and they’ll host local rival Albany Technical College, Wednesday, at 6 p.m.
